Why I was never an English major

In 5th grade, I got a D- in spelling. My parents were not amused. Lowest grade I ever made in my free education career (I did get an F in college).

My junior year of high school, I was in the advanced placement English class. I think I got solid Bs. At the end of the year, my teacher said "The principal is making me recommend everyone for Senior AP English. Please get your parents to write a parental override so you can take regular English." She was a very nice teacher, she just knew I was a math & science person who would not read and was not good with essays.

Somehow, in college, despite my "12th grade regular" English, I placed out of one semester of freshman English. So I took a grand total of one semester of English during my entire college career. Undergrad and Masters. I got a C.

Now I should add, in general, my writting is pretty good "for an engineer" or "for a math geek" or "for a computer geek" depending on the context. But I'm not good with short and sweet, nor with spelling and grammar. I just can't be bothered with the piddly little details.

Now why am I telling you this? Why do you care? How does it relate to my blog?

Well, I like to read the web referals, thats the link that shows what people clicked on to get them here. I am always amused because often times its a search, and generally, its a misspelled search.

For example, if you mispel Tylonol, my blog shows up in your search list. Near the top.

Same goes for misspelling of nuelasta, mediasteinal, steriod, diagnose, or any particular medication I have been on.

You think your family was upset about a bad grade in elementary school - they probably would have cut your funding off in college if they had known. Did you tell them or keep them in the dark--I even know the answer.
